In case of problems with the electrical system or mechanical components, it is important to investigate which component is defective. It is also essential to determine the cause of the problem. Take, for example, a turbo that turns out to be defective. What caused the problem? Was it a lubrication issue?
If the cause of a defect is not found, the problem may return in the future. Identifying the defective or malfunctioning component and tracking down the cause is what we call “making a diagnosis.” A good diagnosis prevents unnecessary replacement of parts. Automotive technicians are trained in making diagnoses. With the diagnostic skills they learn during these trainings, they can use the right measuring tools to track down a complex problem. The issues that may occur in the workshop are covered in the following categories: electrical diagnosis, mechanical diagnosis, and air conditioning system diagnosis.
