Suicide doors:
With suicide doors, the door opens the opposite way to what is usual. Below you can see a MINI Cooper Clubman, which is standard equipped with a suicide door on the right-hand rear side. The hinges are therefore on the side of the rear wheel and not, as usual, in the B-pillar. The bottom photo is of an American Saturn.
The advantage of suicide doors is that they create a large opening for getting in and out. Loading large items also becomes easier. There are also some cars (mainly prototypes) that have suicide doors at the front.
