The comfort systems are designed to provide the occupants of a vehicle with as much comfort and ease of use as possible while driving, parking, and when stationary. When a car is equipped with electric mirror adjustment and parking assistance, it is easier to park in a narrow street along a high curb. A pleasant interior climate and a clearly legible navigation system also benefit safety, as they allow the driver to focus better on driving.
Up until the 1990s, entry-level models of new cars were often delivered very sparsely equipped, without air conditioning, electric window and mirror adjustment, or navigation. Nowadays, cars in all price ranges are increasingly equipped with these comfort systems, even in the entry-level models.
